Uzma Ahmed
Thank you for visiting my website. I am a BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. I have primarily worked within the NHS helping individuals find relief during difficult periods in their life. My motivation to become a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist has always been to break the stigma that comes with mental health and give individuals the confidence to feel like themselves again.
Working with diverse populations, I have seen the value of incorporating individual needs within the therapy room. This is why I ensure to create a safe space for cultural and religious beliefs and rather than adopting a one technique fits all policy, I tailor techniques to the needs of each individual. I have seen the power of untangling unhealthy thought patterns, breaking cycles of harmful behaviours and giving people the tools to implement the change they deserve.
At the heart of my work I ensure a non-judgmental, empathetic and safe space is established to create long lasting impactful change. The techniques I offer are evidence based and I work collaboratively, by actively listening to your experiences and offer appropriate guidance and tools to get you the peace of mind you deserve.
My principles
Appreciation
I value each person as an individual and recognise your strengths and challenges in order to offer you a supportive and respectful therapy.
Individuality
I respect and value the uniqueness of each person and therefore aim to provide a safe space for religious and cultural beliefs as a Muslim woman of colour myself.
Responsibility
I take my responsibility as a CBT therapist seriously and I am committed to providing you with the support and guidance you need. The foundation of this is a strong therapeutic relationship which I will aim to build using professionalism, respect and creating a safe space.
Transparency
I am transparent in my work and communicate openly and honestly with you about your progress and care every step of the way. I ensure that we set goals tailored to your individual needs. I aim to make what feels impossible, possible by making your goals tangible and achievable.
Structure
I structure our therapy sessions clearly and transparently in line with the Cognitive Behavioural model. I aim to meet on a weekly basis ensuring that we assess, formulate and incorporate techniques to change unhelpful thought and behavioural patterns and achieve your therapeutic goals.
Competence
With many years of experience as an accredited CBT therapist, I have experience of working with a diverse range of clients and disorders. I can bring both evidence based learning and experience based evidence to the therapeutic space.
